Outward 2 Beta: Survival Tips, Known Issues, and Bug Workarounds
The Outward 2 closed beta is currently live, throwing players back into a ruthless world of survival, disease management, and difficult combat. As with any early test build, the community is running into a mix of intentional hardcore mechanics and early-build technical issues.
Based on unconfirmed community reports and player testing from the current beta build, we have compiled some essential Outward 2 tips and workarounds to help you survive your early hours.
Hive Infestation Bug Workaround
Managing diseases is a core part of the experience, but players are currently struggling with the "Hive Infestation" status. According to community feedback, reaching Stage 4 of Hive Infestation causes a bug where the standard cure, Acerbic Drop, stops working completely.
If you find yourself stuck with an incurable Stage 4 infection, players have discovered an unconfirmed workaround: reinfection.
- By intentionally getting infected by hive enemies again, the disease currently resets to Stage 1.
- Once reset to Stage 1, taking an Acerbic Drop will successfully grant the "Receding" status (which lasts for roughly 59 minutes).
Warning: This workaround might not be a permanent fix. Players report that sleeping while the disease is receding can still cause it to progress back to Stage 2. Plan your healing and travel times accordingly.
"Fully Corrupted" Status and The East Cave
Exploration in Outward 2 remains highly dangerous. Players exploring the cave located just east of the main town entrance have reported encounters with a "Corrupted Immaculate."
Getting dropped by this enemy inflicts a "Fully Corrupted" status effect. Currently, the community notes that this debuff applies a flat -30% resistance to Lightning damage.
Removing this status is proving to be a major hurdle in the beta. Players report that dying does not clear the corruption, and standard Sanctifier Potions are seemingly ineffective against it. Until a reliable cure is found or patched, it is highly recommended to avoid the east cave unless you are fully prepared for a difficult fight.
Early Game Scarcity: The Missing Pickaxe
Resource gathering is currently a pain point for ranged players. A common complaint in the Outward 2 beta is the sheer inability to locate a Pickaxe. Multiple players report that early-game vendors are not stocking them, and exploring natural areas like the hive has yielded no results.
If you are planning an early build that relies heavily on crafting your own ammo, be aware that you might be severely bottlenecked by the lack of mining tools in the current loot tables.
Extreme Darkness and Missing Inventory Bugs
Finally, be highly protective of your loot. The beta currently has several community-reported glitches that can ruin a run:
- Do not drop items on the ground: Players report that items and entire inventories are frequently disappearing when dropped.
- Mule issues: Mules are currently bugging out, with reports of them malfunctioning or vanishing entirely. Keep your most valuable gear on your main character.
- Pitch-black nights: If there is no moon out, nighttime visibility is almost zero. Players note that even with the game's brightness turned all the way up and a lantern equipped, you will barely be able to see in front of you. Try to set up camp before nightfall.
