Outward 2 Beta: War Ribbon Bug and Mana Drain Issues Reported

The latest Outward 2 beta playtest is currently live, with players actively sharing Steam invites across community forums. As more adventurers step out into Nine Dots Studio's harsh fantasy world, we are starting to see the first wave of community-reported mechanics, along with a few bugs you'll want to avoid.

If you are currently participating in the beta, here is a quick roundup of unconfirmed issues and gameplay quirks you should watch out for based on recent player feedback.

The War Ribbon is Currently Bugged

If you are saving up your silver to buy a specific weapon, you might want to skip the War Ribbon for now.

According to community reports, the War Ribbon is currently broken in the latest beta build. Players who purchase and equip the item are finding that it becomes completely invisible in their character's hands. Worse, the weapon currently lacks any hit detection—while you can hear the attack animations, the weapon simply phases through enemies without dealing any impact or damage. Reloading the game does not seem to resolve the issue.

Interestingly, players noted that this weapon functioned normally in the previous beta test. For now, our best advice is to hold onto your current staff or sword and avoid selling your main weapon to fund a War Ribbon until a patch drops.

Unexplained Mana Burn (Engineer & Summoner Classes)

Unlocking magic in the Outward universe has always required a bit of sacrifice, but some beta testers are running into a frustrating passive mana drain that they can't seem to stop.

Players are reporting instances where their mana is passively "burnt" for no clear reason. One user noted experiencing this aggressive mana drain after acquiring passives from the Engineer and Summoner skill trees. Attempting to cast spells did not halt the passive drain.

Right now, it is unconfirmed whether this is a genuine bug or a hidden, intentional mechanic. Outward is known for its complex status effects, so it's entirely possible that specific combinations of Engineer and Summoner passives—or interacting with certain environmental triggers—inflicts a mana-draining debuff. Until we get official confirmation or further testing, keep an eye on your mana bar if you decide to spec into these specific skill trees.

Looking for Beta Access?

If you haven't secured access to the playtest yet, keep an eye on the official r/outwardgame Subreddit. Players who already have access are frequently dropping into the "New" queue to offer their spare Steam invites to the community.

We'll keep monitoring the beta and updating our Outward 2 tips as more mechanics are uncovered and confirmed.
